This map, published by Reddit user Dk1902 in 2022, represents the estimated ownership of firearms by the civilian population in different countries around the world.
The colour code represents the following:
- In brown, all countries with more than 100 firearms per 100 inhabitants.
- In the various shades of orange, countries that have between 20 and 100 weapons per 100 inhabitants.
- In grey, countries with between 15 and 20 weapons per 100 inhabitants.
- In blue, those with fewer than 15 weapons per 100 inhabitants.
The United States tops the list, with a volume of weapons among the civilian population that exceeds the total number of inhabitants. Yemen ranks second, with less than half that proportion. Other countries such as Serbia, Uruguay, Canada, Finland, Lebanon, and Bosnia-Herzegovina have fewer than 40 firearms per 100 inhabitants.
