This map was published Blanche Lambert in 2023 as part of the initiative #30DayMapChallenge.
The illustration shows Turkey's arms trade flow, which has seen a sharp increase over the last decade. Data from 2022 shows that the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Ukraine are currently the countries that buy the most weapons from Turkey, followed by the Philippines. All the countries marked in light green on the map also received arms from Turkey in 2022: Niger, Burkina Faso, Mali, Togo, Poland, Kosovo, Honduras, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
You can find more information about the initiative here. #30DayMapChallenge in what I wrote in the newsletter.
