European holidays abroad (2019)

This map, published by Landgeist, shows the situation of overseas tourism in the different countries of the European Union in 2019.

The infographic has two dimensions. On the one hand, it uses different colours to represent the number of inhabitants who spent at least one night abroad in 2019. At the top are Switzerland and Norway, with more than 70% of the population. At the bottom are Romania, Bulgaria and Greece, where less than 10% of the population travelled abroad during that year.

With regard to the most popular destinations in each country, Spain clearly stands out as the preferred destination in most of the European Union, with ten countries. Next is Italy, the preferred destination of four countries, followed by France and Germany, both with three countries.
