Killing two birds with one stone in European languages (2017)

This map, created by the illustrator Jakub Marian in 2017, shows the different forms of the expression «kill two birds with one stone» in different European languages.

Different languages and cultures also change their idioms. This map shows the different animals that are killed in each European country, with the equivalent saying in the main language of each country.

Despite the differences, there are also similarities that are shown with the different colours:

  • In redBirds / Pigeons.
  • In green: Rabbits / Hares.
  • In brown: Flies.
  • In orange: Undetermined.
  • In blueCook two meats over one fire (Polish people are very practical).
