The Falkland Islands are Argentine! (2022)

This map was published by Horatio Langlois in 2022, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Operation Rosario.

On 2 April 1982, the Argentine army launched an amphibious operation, Operation Rosario, to recover the Falkland Islands, which had been under British control since 1833. The operation ended with the intervention of the United Nations, calling for a cessation of hostilities and the withdrawal of the Argentine army.

Since 2000, 2 April has been celebrated in Argentina as Veterans' Day and Day of the Fallen in the Falklands War. With this map, designed to resemble a mid-20th century propaganda poster, the author seeks to commemorate the 40th anniversary of this campaign. It shows an Argentine soldier with the flag over the Falklands, facing a monster with a caricature of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom as its head.

Thanks to its aesthetic appeal, this map can often be found online as if it were a map published in the 1980s, but it is a completely original work from 2022.
