Map of Rosario, Argentina (1875)

This map, created by José Antonio Pillado, depicts the urban plan for the city of Rosario around 1875.

At the end of the 19th century, the bourgeoisie of the city of Rosario were pushing for the city to become the capital of the Argentine Republic. This led Councillor Manuel Coll to plan a complex urban network that would enable the development of the city of Rosario.

This map of Pillado outlines the plan's layout, as well as the use of each area in different colours:

  • In red, at the bottom, the city itself.
  • In yellow, the outskirts.
  • In green, the suburbs.
  • In brown, the various villages on the outskirts.

Although this urban model was never officially approved, it remained a benchmark for Rosario's growth until well into the 20th century.
