Rainfall map of Mexico (2023)

This map was published Jean Eichholtzer in 2023 as part of the initiative #30DayMapChallenge.

The map shows annual rainfall in each region of Mexico, based on data collected between 1910 and 2009 and published in 2014 by Ángela Cuervo Robayo. The author uses a colour spectrum ranging from yellow to purple, including green and blue.

The driest regions correspond to much of the California peninsula and the coast of the state of Sonora. The wettest areas are found in the states of Veracruz, Tabasco and Chiapas, with the municipality of Cacahoatán, in Chiapas, near the border with Guatemala, receiving the most annual rainfall.

You can find more information about the initiative here. #30DayMapChallenge in what I wrote in the newsletter.
