This map, published by Mexico's National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) in 2020, shows the literacy rates of the country's different states.
To this end, three colours are used depending on the literacy range of each federal entity:
- In dark red, The states with a literacy rate of over 96% of the population are: Baja California, Sonora, Coahuila, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Aguascalientes, the State of Mexico, and Mexico City.
- In light red, The states with a literacy rate between 94.1% and 96.1% of the population are: Baja California Sur, Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Durango, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, Tlaxcala, and Morelos.
- In light purple, The states with literacy rates below 94% of the population: Veracruz, Hidalgo, Puebla, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Guerrero, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Chiapas, Campeche, Yucatán, and Quintana Roo.
