The Yangtze River, also known as the Blue River, is the largest in Asia. From its source on the Tibetan Plateau to its mouth on the East China Sea, it flows for 6,300 kilometres. Its drainage basin covers a total of 1,800,000 square kilometres. Along its course, it passes through several major Chinese cities such as Chongqing, Wuhan, Nanjing and Shanghai.
