Artisanal and ancestral beverages of Colombia (2024)

This infographic was created in 2024 by Soranny Moncada Franco, Brian Castaño and Víctor Mosquera, in collaboration with Proyecto Brujería Artesanal, Macerados Raíces and Gondwana Brewery for La Vitrina Project.

The map divides Colombia into five major cultural zones differentiated by different colours. On this basis, 18 artisanal beverages are shown with their respective data: alcohol content, name, ethnic origin and main ingredients. In the margin of the main map, a note lists four other beverages widely distributed throughout the territory: chicha, guarapo, mistela and sabajón.

This infographic is not intended as an academic map, but as an instrument to make visible this whole tradition that, to a large extent, is still outside the official records.
