Map of Tarragona, by Alberto Martín (1910)

Map of the city of Tarragona, published in 1910 in Barcelona by Alberto Martín, with information provided and reviewed by Ramón Salas Ricomá, provincial architect of Tarragona, and by the City Council.

The map shows the size of Tarragona at the beginning of the 20th century, and the author also includes details of the expansion. Particularly striking are the few references and the attention given by the map to the Roman ruins of Tarraco. Only the ruins of the amphitheatre, which had been rediscovered at the end of the 19th century, appear with the number 37. The location of the Roman circus was already known, but excavations and expropriations did not take place until the early 20th century.

Next to the coast, you can see the railway station, whose construction led to the discovery of the amphitheatre ruins and renewed interest in the city's Roman past.
