This map, created by Shannon1 for Wikimedia Commons in 2018, shows the course of the Obi River, its catchment area and its main tributaries, including the Irtis.
The Obi rises in the Russian Altai and flows north through western Siberia until it reaches the gulf of the same name in the Kara Sea after 3,650 kilometres. Its main tributary, the Irtis, rises in the Chinese Altai Mountains in the Xinjiang region and flows 4,248 kilometres through China, Kazakhstan and Russia before joining the Obi near Khanty-Mansiysk. Together they form the seventh longest river system in the world, with 5,410 kilometres in total and a catchment area of 2,972,497 square kilometres.
