Germany, a beautiful country to travel to (1936)

This tourist map, entitled Germany. The beautiful travel country (Germany: The Beautiful Country for Travelling) was published in 1936 by German Federal Railways Central Office for Passenger Transport, a German company created to promote rail tourism.

Although produced by a German company, the publication is in English in an attempt to attract international tourism. The map is part of Nazi Germany's propaganda strategies associated with tourism and sport, through which it sought to whitewash and normalise the regime.

In the article Holidays and the Olympics in Nazi Germany You can read more about this important German propaganda campaign in the years leading up to the Second World War.
