This map, drawn by Arturo Seelstrang in 1889, is part of the Geographical Atlas of the Argentine Republic (1882–1892), published by the Argentine Geographical Institute.
The map covers the province of Mendoza, which in 1899 already had the same area it has today.
Among all the cities, Mendoza, the provincial capital and most populous city at the time, already stood out. It is interesting to see on the map how many cities that are now part of Greater Mendoza appear as separate and independent cities, such as Maipú and Luján de Cuyo.
