Population map of Antarctica (2019)

This map, created by Sasha Trubetskoy in 2019, shows the population of Antarctica.

Antarctica is the only continent with no native population. Even so, thousands of people spend several months of the year on its frozen lands, at the various permanent bases that have been established along its coasts for scientific research.

As shown on the map, the population fluctuates significantly between winter and summer, ranging from 1,110 inhabitants during the Antarctic winter to 4,410 during the Antarctic summer. McMurdo Station, belonging to the United States, is the most populated with over 1,200 inhabitants in summer.
