This map, published by the agency Humanitarian Information Unit, shows the number of Ukrainian refugees currently residing in different European countries (as of 11 January 2023).

Following the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022, more than five million citizens have been forced to leave the country and remain settled in various European countries. It is estimated that 87% of the refugees are women and children, and they are mainly distributed in the following countries:

  • Poland: 1,600,000 people
  • Germany: 1,000,000 people
  • Czech Republic: 476,000 people
  • Italy: 173,000 people
  • Spain: 159,000 people
  • United Kingdom: 151,000 people
