Ukraine's mineral resources

This map, created by Celia Hernando for El Orden Mundial, shows the location of mining resources in Ukraine.

In February 2025, Ukraine's mineral resources became particularly popular due to Donald Trump's interest in acquiring its rare earths in exchange for the United States continuing to support Ukraine against Russia's invasion. Rare earths are the fundamental elements necessary for the manufacture of advanced electronic systems, such as medical equipment and microprocessors.

The map shows Ukraine's main mineral reserves in different colours:

  • Grey: Graphite.
  • Green dark: Lithium.
  • Green certainly: Uranium.
  • Rosa: Rare earths.
  • Yellow: Polymetallic (gold, lead, zinc, etc.)
  • BlueNon-ferrous metals (nickel, cobalt, copper, etc.)
  • PurpleTransition metals (iron, titanium, manganese, zirconium, etc.)

In addition, the territory occupied by Russia as of February 2025 is shown in light red.
