This map, created by Landgeist in 2024, shows the obesity situation in North America, according to data provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and other national agencies for 2022.
According to the WHO, all individuals with a body mass index above 25, obese are those with an index above 30. With the available data, the figures for Haiti (10.7 %) and Cuba (21.8 %) quickly stand out, with the lowest number of citizens with obesity. At the other end of the spectrum are the Bahamas (47.3 %) and several states in Mexico: Campeche (50.8 %), Tamaulipas (49.1 %), Baja California Sur (47.4 %) and Yucatán (45.8 %).
This indication should be considered an epidemiological issue, as each individual's body structure may determine a different appropriate body mass index.
On this other map, you can consult the data on overweight in Europe.
