Territory of the Mexican cartels (2024)

This map, published by Ioan Grillo, shows the territory of influence of the cartels operating in Mexico in 2024.

The author uses different colours to refer to the main cartels:

  • Red: Sinaloa Cartel.
  • Blue: Jalisco New Generation.
  • Green: Gulf Cartel.
  • Yellow: Juárez Cartel.
  • Black: Northeast Cartel.
  • Brown: The Family.

In addition, the map also shows several regions disputed by two or more cartels, which are marked with stripes, as well as areas where the dominant cartels are less powerful, which are marked in purple. Among the latter, the author includes the Beltrán Leyva cartel and the Zetas, as they have lost power in their respective regions following internal struggles.
