This illustrated map, published by Lara Romero In 2021, it shows the island of Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands.
The map features the island’s most distinctive landmarks: the Corralejo Dunes in the north, formed from 2,600 hectares of crushed shells; Lobos Island (4.58 km²) in the north-east; the three main lighthouses – Tostón in the north, Jandía in the south-west and La Entallada in the east; and the island’s most famous culinary specialities, including Majorero cheese, goat’s meat and fried fish.
Inside, there are references to the Calderón Hondo crater, which is 70 metres deep, and to Betancuria, the island’s historic capital. The map also features the legend of Casa Winter, the Cofete Cemetery and the geographical position of Fuerteventura as the point in the Canary Islands closest to the African continent.
