This map was published by Liang Wanmei in 2022 as part of the initiative #30DayMapChallenge.
The sand cat (Felis margarita) is the only feline that lives exclusively in deserts. Its habitat is distributed in three main regions: the Sahara desert, the Arabian deserts and the desert basins of Central Asia.
On the map, in addition to the territorial distribution of this animal, some of the characteristics that explain its adaptation to the desert are also shown on the bottom right-hand side, such as its short, fur-covered legs, to walk on sand without getting burnt, or its large ears, as a thermometer and to facilitate hunting at night.
You can find more information about the initiative here. #30DayMapChallenge in what I wrote in the newsletter.
