Political map of Guatemala (2020)

This map was produced by Rafael Landívar University in 2020 using geographical data provided by the National Geographic Institute of Guatemala.

The map shows the territorial organisation of Guatemala, divided into eight regions, 22 departments and 340 municipalities. Each region appears on the map in a different colour and is subdivided into the following departments:

  • Region I (Metropolitan): Guatemala.
  • Region II (Verapaz): Alta Verapaz and Baja Verapaz.
  • Region III (North-East): Chiquimula, El Progreso, Izabal and Zacapa.
  • Region IV (Southeast): Jalapa, Jutiapa, and Santa Rosa.
  • Region V (Central): Chimaltenango, Escuintla, and Sacatepéquez.
  • Region VI (Southwest): Quetzaltenango, Retalhuleu, San Marcos, Sololá, Suchitepéquez, and Totonicapán.
  • Region VII (Northwest): Huehuetenango and Quiché.
  • Region VIII (Petén): Petén.
