This map, published by the Imperial and Royal Military Geographical Institute in 1894, shows the administrative divisions of the Austro-Hungarian Empire's army.

The different colours represent the 16 high-level constituencies, which are in turn divided into 112 lower-level constituencies. The 16 main constituencies had the following capitals:

  • I. Krakow
  • II. Vienna
  • III. Graz
  • IV. Budapest
  • V. Pressburg (Bratislava)
  • VI. Košice
  • VII. Timișoara
  • VIII. Prague

  • X. Brno
  • XI. Lemberg (Lviv)
  • XII. Hermannstadt (Sibiu)
  • XIII. Agram (Zagreb)
  • XIV. Innsbruck

  • KM. Zara (Zadar)

By the end of the 19th century, the Austro-Hungarian Empire had reached its maximum extent, covering territory that now belongs to Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovenia and Italy.
