This map was published by Maison Forest, a Parisian publishing house, in the 1930s. The work was directed by cartographer E. Girard.
The map shows the administrative division of the United States of Venezuela, the official name of Venezuela between 1864 and 1953. Until 1909, different constitutions regularly changed the number of states, their names and their size. In that year, the constitution was signed that established the territorial administration until 1953.
The map shows the 20 states that made up the federation (Anzoátegui, Apure, Aragua, Bolívar, Carabobo, Cojedes, Falcón, Guárico, Lara, Mérida, Miranda, Monagas, Nueva Esparta, Portuguesa, Sucre, Táchira, Trujillo, Yaracuy, Zamora and Zulia), along with the two federal territories (Amazonas and Delta Amacuro) and the capital in the Federal District.
