This illustration, created by Terence Teo, represents Iceland's population density on a three-dimensional map. To do this, Terence extracted the data available at Kontur Population with which it generates columns using a programme, with a height that represents the population density at each point.
This map of Iceland shows the peculiarity of the island, where almost the entire population is concentrated around the capital, Reykjavík, with 230,000 inhabitants and more than 60% of the country's population. There are only two other cities in Iceland with more than 10,000 inhabitants, Keflavík and Akureyri. Akranes, Selfoss and Vestmanneyjar have a population of around 5,000 inhabitants.
