This map, published by Eurostat in 2020 with data from 2018, shows the rate of self-employment in Europe.
The different colours show the percentage of the total number of workers who are self-employed in each of the regions of Europe (NUTS-2):
- All regions with a percentage above 12.5% % are shown in pink, with greater intensity as the percentage increases.
- All regions with a percentage below 12.5% % are shown in blue, with greater intensity the lower the percentage.
It is easy to see that Greece, Italy, Turkey, Serbia, Poland and Spain stand out among the countries with the highest percentage of self-employed workers. At the other end of the scale, with the lowest percentage of self-employed workers, are countries such as Norway, Germany, Sweden and Hungary.
