This map shows the deployment of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in 2018.
This organisation was created by the United Nations Security Council in 1978 and since then has had troops deployed in southern Lebanon with the aim of maintaining peace in the region.
The map shows southern Lebanon, near its border with Israel, delineating the areas of operations of UNIFIL, as well as the flag of the country that led each of the areas in 2018: India, Spain, Indonesia, Nepal, Malaysia, Ireland, Ghana, Italy, and South Korea. In August 2024, the same countries were leading each area of operations.
