Angola is not a small country (2011)

This map was created in 2011 by the architect. Paulo Moreira, in response to the famous Portuguese imperialist map Portugal is not a small country..

In 2011, Moreira was working on an exhibition to promote Angola's development. After raising funds, he opened the exhibition in Porto with the title Angola is not a small country., also including a map with the same title.

Moreira's map uses the same aesthetic as the Portuguese map, but this time it takes the shape of Portugal, Madeira and the Azores, multiplies them ten times and includes them within Angola's borders to demonstrate the country's vast size.

As in the original work, the author also presents tables showing the combined size of Angola's 18 provinces, which total 1.23 million square kilometres, and compares them with the size of Portugal today, which is only 82,000 square kilometres.
