Map of South American forests (2025)

This map was published by Adam Symington in 2025 as part of the initiative #30DayMapChallenge.

Using a colour gradient, the author shows the forest cover of each point in South America:

  • In purple, areas with forest cover of less than 25% %.
  • In blue, areas with forest cover between 25% and 50%.
  • In green, areas with forest cover between 50% and 75%.
  • In yellow, areas with forest cover of more than 75% %.

As expected, the Amazon, one of the densest forests on the planet, stands out on the map.

You can find more information about the initiative here. #30DayMapChallenge in what I wrote in the newsletter.
