Horizontal displacement following the earthquake in Ecuador (2016)

This map, published by the Geographical Institute of Ecuador in 2016, shows the impact of the earthquake that occurred on 16 April of that same year.

The map shows the horizontal distortion after the event in different colours. The area near the earthquake in the vicinity of the city of Pedernales, where displacements reached almost 80 centimetres, is shown in red. In regions as far away as Quito (in yellow), these displacements reached more than 10 centimetres.
