The average age in Africa (2023)

This map was published by Phoebe Ly in 2023 as part of the initiative #30DayMapChallenge.

This is a map of Africa, showing countries in different shades of orange based on the median age in each country, according to data from The World Factbook in 2020.

The southernmost and northernmost countries in Africa consistently stand out as having the oldest populations, with a median age exceeding 21 years in all countries. At the opposite end of the spectrum are Niger and Uganda, the only two countries with a median age below 15.7 years.

You can find more information about the initiative here. #30DayMapChallenge in what I wrote in the newsletter.
