Population density of New Zealand (2022)

This illustration, created by Terence Teo, represents New Zealand's population density on a three-dimensional map. To do this, Terence extracted the data available at Kontur Population with which it generates columns using a programme, with a height that represents the population density at each point.

This map of New Zealand shows the different population peaks, among which the urban area of Auckland, the country's most populous city and urban area, predominates. In addition, the illustration also shows other peaks in Christchurch, Wellington (the capital), Hamilton, Napier, Whakatane and Nelson (labelled as Richmond, a smaller town in the urban area).
