Words exported from German (2012)

This map was created by Ralf Grauel in 2012 for the illustrated book Understanding Germany (Understanding Germany).

The illustration shows the different words that the German language has exported to non-German-speaking countries around the world (Germany, Switzerland, and Austria). The author shows the words that are used in different countries and not in different languages. For example, the use in Chile of cake It is very widespread, but not so much in other Spanish-speaking countries.
