The true size of Chile (2022)

This map, created by Ruy Pinto Schaffroth, shows the comparative size of Chile and several European countries.

Unlike other maps made by Ruy, such as the one of Peru or that of Argentina, In this case, the total area is not as relevant as the total length of Chile when placing a series of countries in a straight line. From Cape Horn in the south to Arica in the north, Chile has a length of 4,150 kilometres. This allows for a series of elongated European countries to be included and still leave gaps: Italy, Denmark, Austria, Portugal, Wales, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland.
