Commercial map of the Cholon district, Saigon (1948)

This decorative and advertising map was published in Ho Chi Minh City in 1948, when the city was still known by its former name, Saigon. It depicts the Cholon neighbourhood and includes advertisements for local shops and restaurants.

In 1948, Saigon was still part of French Cochinchina, one of the French colonies that made up what was known as Indochina. Cholon was the city's main commercial district, with a majority Chinese population, and was frequently visited by French soldiers stationed in the region.
