This map, published in 1982, shows the location of revolutionary forces during the Salvadoran Civil War.
With the title in English: El Salvador: The Inevitable Revolution (El Salvador: The Inevitable Revolution); the map is part of a propaganda pamphlet published in 1982 to publicise the position and structure of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN). This organisation brought together all the left-wing revolutionary forces that fought in the Salvadoran Civil War between 1979 and 1992.
The map shows the situation of these revolutionary forces in 1982, with areas under their control shown in red, disputed areas in pink, and areas where the revolutionaries were expanding in blue stripes.
On the back of this pamphlet, there is a hierarchical organisation of all the revolutionary groups that were part of the FMLN.
The author of the map is unknown. Although it is often attributed to Fermán Cienfuegos, he was only the leader of the FMLN.
