Map of the Andes Province (1909)

This map, created by Aquilino Fernández, is part of the 1909 edition of the Small General Atlas of the Argentine Republic.

The Government of the Andes, officially known as the National Territory of Los Andes, was an area of Argentina with its own administration between 1900 and 1943. Its extent corresponded to the territory that Argentina obtained after the Puna de Atacama dispute, in which it faced Bolivia and Chile.

In 1943, due to the lack of population in the region, the Government of the Andes disappeared. Its territory was divided between the neighbouring provinces of Jujuy, Salta and Catamarca.
