This map, published Perrin Remounted in 2024, shows all the endorheic basins in the world.
Endorheic basins are areas whose rivers do not flow into the ocean. All the water that falls in these regions remains there and can only leave through evaporation or infiltration. These areas usually correspond to the most arid regions on the planet, and it is common for their lowest-lying parts to be deserts or endorheic lakes.
On the map, endorheic basins are coloured yellow, and among the largest are:
- Caspian Sea basin (Asia), covering 3,626,000 km².
- Lake Chad Basin (Africa), covering 2,335,000 km².
- Lake Eyre basin (Australia), covering 1,200,000 km².
- Tarim Basin (China), covering 906,500 km².
- Kalahari Basin (Africa), covering 725,293 km².
