Population density of Saudi Arabia (2023)

This illustration, created by Terence Teo, represents the population density of Saudi Arabia on a three-dimensional map. To do this, Terence extracted the data available at Kontur Population with which it generates columns using a programme, with a height that represents the population density at each point.

This map of Saudi Arabia shows the different population centres, dominated by Riyadh, the capital and most populous city, Dammam, and the entire south-west of the country, where cities such as Jeddah and Mecca are located.

As the country's borders are not marked, this map may lead to confusion, suggesting that Riyadh and Dammam are located near the south-eastern border, when in fact this area is home to the Rub' al-Khali desert, which is completely uninhabited.
