This map, created by Landgeist, shows the average life expectancy in different regions of Africa, according to data published by the United Nations in 2021.
The author uses a colour spectrum ranging from yellow to dark blue, passing through green, to show life expectancy in different regions. At the top end, we find several regions of Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco, as well as multiple islands in the Indian Ocean, with Réunion leading the way (80.7 years). At the bottom end are several regions in northern Nigeria, Chad and the Central African Republic, with the state of Kebbi bringing up the rear (46 years).
