The greening of the boreal forest (2000–2019)

This map was published by Steven Bernard in 2024 as part of the initiative #30DayMapChallenge.

The map shows changes in boreal forest vegetation between 2000 and 2019. It uses different shades of green to show areas where tree density increased and brown to show areas where tree density decreased.

As can be seen on the map, despite regional variations, there are more areas where vegetation continues to grow, especially in the northernmost regions.

You can find more information about the initiative here. #30DayMapChallenge in what I wrote in the newsletter.
