This map was created by Eugene Alvin Villar in 2024 as part of the initiative #30DayMapChallenge.
This map is based on a 1943 National Geographic world map, but its content has been modified and adjusted using the Cahill–Concialdi projection. This projection was originally defined in 2015 by Luca Concialdi, who took inspiration from the Butterfly Projection by Bernard Cahill, 1909.
The result, given that many regions are completely reorienting themselves, is that the labels appear unevenly, although no less interesting for that.
You can find more information about the initiative here. #30DayMapChallenge in what I wrote in the newsletter.
