A world of coffee and tea (2023)

This map, published by Landgeist in 2023, shows which countries predominantly consume coffee or tea, according to data provided by the FAO and Statista for 2018 and 2020, respectively.

In the comparison, the author equates cups of coffee with cups of tea. To do this, he considers that a cup of coffee requires 10 grams of coffee beans, while a cup of tea requires 25 grams of leaves. On the map, all countries where tea predominates are shown in orange and all those where coffee predominates are shown in brown.

As will come as no surprise to many, practically all of Asia and Africa predominantly consume tea, as does part of South America. Coffee predominates in the rest of South America, North America, Europe and Oceania.
