Disappeared countries of Asia (1860–2018)

This map, created by Anders Kvernberg In 2018, it represents some of the most important Asian countries that enjoyed independence (recognised or not) between 1860 and 2018. The map excludes the entire Asian part of Russia.

The author does not include many of the possible states that existed in Indonesia (in addition to the present ones) in the selection, given the size and complexity that would be required to represent them. For this reason, he only includes the largest of all those that existed, the Sultanate of Aceh.

With regard to the terrorist groups that proclaimed their independence during this period, the author chose to include only those that managed to establish a level of structures and administrations that were operational for a certain period, as was the case with the Islamic State.

As a result, this is the list of all the countries shown on the map, with their most common names in Spanish and in the same order as they appear at the bottom with the flags:
