Highest temperatures in Europe (2026)

This map, created by Maven Mapping in collaboration with The World in Maps, shows the highest temperatures recorded in each European country.

The author uses a gradient ranging from yellow to maroon to represent the different maximum temperatures. The northern countries have the lowest maximum temperatures, with Iceland (30.5 °C), Ireland (33.3 °C), Norway (35.6 °C) and Estonia (35.6 °C). The highest temperatures are concentrated in southern Europe, with Turkey (50.5 °C), Italy (48.8 °C), Greece (48.0 °C), Spain (47.4 °C) and Portugal (47.4 °C).

The temperature in Turkey was recorded in Silopi, on the Asian side of the country, near the border with Iraq; it would therefore be more accurate to say that Italy holds the record for the highest temperature ever recorded: in August 2021 in Floridia, in south-eastern Sicily.
