This map was published by C\u00e9dric Vidonne<\/a> in 2024 as part of the initiative\u00a0#30DayMapChallenge<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These are two maps showing the world's oceans using the Spilhaus projection. Using a range of colours from blue through green to orange, the temperature of the oceans is shown at two points in time: January 2024 on the left-hand side and July 2024 on the right-hand side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This comparative view shows how subtly ocean temperatures vary. In January, the northern hemisphere (in the outer part) has lower temperatures and the southern hemisphere (in the inner part, around Antarctica) has higher temperatures. In July, the pattern is reversed, although throughout the year the lowest temperatures are consistently around Antarctica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
