This map, drawn by cartographer August Heinrich Petermann, was published in 1875 as supplement number 39, complementing his great geographical work of 1874.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The map was created using information from the Office of National Engineers of the Republic of Argentina, as well as data provided by various provincial geographical institutes in Argentina. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay are represented with the territorial extension that each country had in 1875. Among other things, it highlights how Patagonia is presented as completely independent from Chile and Argentina, since this map was published six years before the Treaty of Santiago was signed. the Boundary Treaty<\/a> between both countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the north, the Boundary Treaty between Paraguay and Argentina had not yet been signed, which is reflected in this map showing all of Argentina's territorial claims prior to the outbreak of the War of the Triple Alliance, given that the information on the map had been obtained entirely from Argentine sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the Pacific coast, you can also see the Bolivian coastline., before Bolivia lost it to Chile<\/a>, after the War of the Pacific. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
