This map was drawn by illustrator Pierre Lissac for the magazine. La Vie Parisienne<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La Vie Parisienne<\/em> was a French magazine that, in its early days, had a cultural focus centred on literary criticism. At the beginning of the 20th century, it shifted towards a male audience, featuring content with a more sophisticated tone, even erotic in some cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was in this type of magazine that Lissac published this iconic map of Parisian life. It was published on Christmas Day 1920 and was intended to show the peculiarities of life in Paris compared to the rest of France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the map, which corresponds to a map of central Paris, you can see a wide variety of scenes, such as several rich men harassing a ballerina at the Op\u00e9ra Garnier, a woman kissing her husband goodbye in bed, or a naked woman inside a box. You can also see police chases, lynchings, various trades and even some scenes of abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
