This map is a recreation made by <a href=\"https:\/\/bsky.app\/profile\/milhaud.bsky.social\">Miguel Garc\u00eda<\/a> in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tradition of wearing shoes or not varies greatly around the world, although two fundamental patterns can be observed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In green, countries where it is generally considered polite to keep your shoes on when visiting a house, and impolite to take them off. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In red, countries where it is generally considered good manners to remove one's shoes when visiting a home, and bad manners to leave them on.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, countries where norms vary from household to household, albeit with certain patterns, are shown in blue and orange.
