This illustration, created by\u00a0Terence Teo<\/a>, represents Iceland's population density on a three-dimensional map. To do this, Terence extracted the data available at\u00a0Kontur Population<\/a>\u00a0with which it generates columns using a programme, with a height that represents the population density at each point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This map of Iceland shows the peculiarity of the island, where almost the entire population is concentrated around the capital, Reykjav\u00edk, with 230,000 inhabitants and more than 60% of the country's population. There are only two other cities in Iceland with more than 10,000 inhabitants, Keflav\u00edk and Akureyri. Akranes, Selfoss and Vestmanneyjar have a population of around 5,000 inhabitants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
